Why is 1st November a public holiday in Spain? - Surinenglish.com

Image
SUR in English Malaga Tuesday, 31 October 2023, 09:15 Copiar enlace WhatsApp Facebook X LinkedIn Telegram Across the whole of Spain, the 1st November is an important date on the calendar and is a public holiday across the country. It is Día de Todos los Santos or All Saints' Day and in other Latin countries, Day of the Dead, but it isn't a macabre event in any way. It is the day when families remember loved ones who have passed away and get together in cemeteries to visit the resting places of their relatives. Many spend a few days beforehand cleaning, painting and laying fresh flowers around the niche in preparation for the special day. More flowers are sold at this time of the year than any other and the cemeteries become adorned with colourful floral offerings. Families may take food to enjoy at the cemetery, especially the traditional sweet cakes such as 'huesos de santos' (

We will soon carry out tightening or accelerate government spending targets on domestic products. Jakarta (ANTARA) - The demand for manufactured products is expected to increase in the run-up to the 2024 General Elections and the year-end holidays, Industry Ministry spokesperson Febri Hendri Antoni Arif informed here on Tuesday. "There are some events that are predicted to increase the demand for manufactured products, such as the elections, the new academic year, and the year-end holidays. We see that these events can support the movement of the manufacturing industry, especially from the demand side," Arif said. At a press conference on this month's Industrial Confidence Index (IKI), he said that the industrial sector, especially sub-sectors that use imported raw materials and whose products are sold domestically, has been affected by the weakening of the rupiah exchange rate. "We will soon carry out tightening or accelerate government spending targets on domes

Afterwards Kolisi reportedly broke away from the celebration lap to climb the stands to greet his friend Federer, who holds South African citizenship through his mother Lynette. ‘Tis the season for a pre-holiday Mt. Washington Valley escape - Boston Herald

My friend Dina digs into her holiday decorating in early October. She loves to spread out the holiday vibe for as long as and as much as she can. I’m from the other camp. I want to hold onto summer, savor fall and not rush (as much as I love the ski season!) winter along by starting the holidays too soon. That said, when I want to get into the spirit of next season: I want it and I want it NOW! Luckily, there’s a way to dive head first into the holidays even minutes after the last piece of turkey is carved. A weekend trip to Mount Washington Valley (https://ift.tt/sqG8EKt) post Thanksgiving dinner (or pre) is an easy pass to all the holiday cheer you crave. Scenery, décor, amazing shopping, special meals and yes, even some snow-covered peaks are all there for the taking. Mount Washington Valley is an easy shot from Boston up 93 and the Spaulding Turnpike. You know you’ve arrived when the decorations begin: the sight of crossed skis with wreathes on telephone poles has long brough

An old street is packed with tourists in Yangzhou, East China's Jiangsu Province on October 6, 2023, the last day of the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays. Photo: VCG   The newly released 2024 Spring Festival holiday schedule has sparked heated discussion on Chinese social media as Chinese New Year's Eve has not been included. Critics of the plan said it lacks consideration for the public's desire to reunite with family during this most important Chinese festival, whilst defenders say the arrangement was made to guarantee a longer-than-usual Spring Festival holiday.  According to a notice published by the State Council on Wednesday, the Spring Festival holiday of 2024 - the traditional Chinese festival for family reunion - will last eight days, from February 10 to 17. The notice encourages government bodies and companies to give employers paid leave on February 9 - Chinese New Year's Eve. However, the arrangement has sparked heated discussion online. Th
